
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of its National Campaign Council for the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Osun governorship election for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
In a statement, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced that the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja.
According to the party, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas will serve as co-chairmen of the campaign council.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, was named Deputy Chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin will serve as Secretary of the council.
Morka said the party also established several specialised sub-committees to coordinate different aspects of the campaign, including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, special interest mobilisation for persons with disabilities, monitoring and compliance, protocol, and secretariat functions.
The appointments were contained in a notice signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, as the ruling party steps up preparations for the Osun governorship election.
