Dangote Refinery Opens Hotline to Report MRS Stations Selling Petrol Above ₦739

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has launched a dedicated hotline for Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.

In a statement issued on Sunday night, the refinery said the toll-free number 0800 123 5264 is now active nationwide, allowing consumers to report price violations across MRS’s network of over 2,000 filling stations.

The initiative follows the refinery’s recent commencement of nationwide PMS sales at ₦739 per litre, a move it described as a strategic intervention to stabilise fuel prices and ease the financial burden on Nigerians, particularly during the festive season.

Dangote Refinery said the hotline forms part of its commitment to transparency, affordability and consumer protection in the downstream petroleum sector.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Any MRS station selling above this price should be reported through our hotline,” the refinery said.

The company reaffirmed its ability to maintain steady fuel supply, noting that it currently has a guaranteed daily output of 50 million litres. It also warned against attempts to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply in response to the price reduction.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable,” the statement said, urging regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices.

The refinery added that large-scale local refining would reduce Nigeria’s reliance on fuel imports, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira and strengthen national energy security.

Consumers were also advised to resist buying fuel at inflated prices when cheaper, locally refined alternatives are available.
