Egyptian Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy revealed on Sunday that Egypt is ready to host the all-Egyptian African Champions League final to be held between Ahli and Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium on 27 November.
Cairo veterans are scheduled to meet in the prestigious tournament finals at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, but doubts have increased in recent hours over the readiness of the playground to host the match amid hopes of heavy rain in the coastal city. He said, “We expect the match to be played at the Cairo Stadium. Egypt celebrated the Champions League final for the first time between Ahly and Zamalek.”
The minister said, “The Cairo Stadium was to be renovated in November, but we agreed with the authorities to postpone the grass transplant process.In the spring of 2019, in a notorious league game played in Borg El-Arab , Alexandria, Ahly and Zamalek failed miserably to present their normal football due to the city’s normal seasonal rain-fed playground. football fans fear another controversy when the game takes place in Borg el-Arab due to inclement weather in Alexandria later this month.
Ahly advanced to the final after defeating Morocco’s Waidad 5–1 over Allegate, while Zamalek overtook another Casablanca based team, Raja, with a 4–1 aggregate victory. Ahly is eyeing a record ninth Champions League title and his first match sincerely 2013 while Zamalek is trying to win the prestigious award for the first time since his fifth victory in 2002.
