Chelsea FC midfielder Enzo Fernández will miss the club’s next two fixtures after being sanctioned for comments suggesting he may want a future in Spain.
The 25-year-old made the remarks during a podcast appearance in which he expressed a desire to live in Madrid, fuelling speculation linking him with Real Madrid. His comments came shortly after Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, where he also admitted uncertainty about his long-term future.
Head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed that Fernández will be unavailable for the FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale and the upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City.
Rosenior described the situation as disappointing, stating that the midfielder’s comments went against the club’s values and internal culture. However, he clarified that the sanction is temporary and not a sign of a permanent fallout.
Despite the disciplinary action, the Chelsea boss reaffirmed Fernández’s importance to the squad, noting that the decision was necessary to maintain standards within the team.
