The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released images of a suspect linked to the fatal shooting of conservative youth leader Charlie Kirk, announcing a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Photos shared Thursday by the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office on X showed the individual wearing a cap, dark sunglasses, a long-sleeved shirt, and jeans. “We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” the bureau wrote.
In a follow-up post, the FBI confirmed the reward, stating: “The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information that can lead to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.”
The bureau urged witnesses to share photos or video evidence related to the incident, saying efforts to track the suspect were ongoing. “We are doing everything we can to find him, and we’re not sure how far he has gone yet, but we will do our best,” an FBI official added.
Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of President Donald Trump, was shot dead Wednesday in what investigators believe was a targeted assassination.
The attack occurred around noon as Kirk addressed students under a tent at Utah Valley University. He was wearing a white T-shirt with the word “Freedom” emblazoned across the front when a gunman opened fire.
Former Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz, who was present, told Fox News that Kirk had been answering a question about mass shootings when the shot was fired.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox condemned the killing as a “political assassination,” while Trump described it as “a dark moment for America” in a video message.
The incident has intensified concerns about rising political violence in the United States. Kirk had been scheduled to hold about 15 events nationwide before the end of October.
