FIRS Rebrands As Nigerian Revenue Service As New Tax Laws Take Effect

The Federal Government has formally unveiled the new brand identity of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), marking the official transition from the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The NRS became operational following the signing of its enabling legislation, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025, into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June.

In a statement released by the agency, the Executive Chairman of the NRS, Zacch Adedeji, described the unveiling of the logo and related brand elements as a major milestone in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s revenue administration system.

Adedeji said the new identity underscores the government’s resolve to build a more unified, efficient and service-driven revenue framework, in line with Nigeria’s broader economic reform agenda and international best practices.

“The unveiling of the NRS identity reflects a renewed commitment to a more unified, efficient and service-oriented revenue system, one that is aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda and global best practices,” he said.

He added that the rebranding signals continuity of purpose, enhanced institutional capacity and a forward-looking approach to supporting taxpayers while driving national development.

According to him, the Nigeria Revenue Service remains committed to transparency, partnership and service excellence, stressing that the new identity represents the beginning of a stronger relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public.

“The unveiling of this new identity represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public, built on trust, clarity and shared prosperity,” the statement said.
