Former PDP South-South Vice-Chairman Dan Orbih Dies At 64

Veteran Edo politician and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Dan Orbih, has died at the age of 64.

Orbih, a former South-South National Vice-Chairman of the PDP and former chairman of the party in Edo State, died on Monday, August 31, 2026.

His death was announced by the Orbih family in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the family.

The family described him as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, saying his death was received with “profound sadness and a heavy heart.”

Orbih was a prominent figure in Edo politics and a key strategist and mobiliser within the PDP. He served for several years as chairman of the party’s Edo State chapter before becoming its South-South National Vice-Chairman.

Throughout his political career, he played important roles in major political contests in Edo State and remained an influential voice within the PDP and the wider South-South political landscape.

His death is expected to be a significant loss to the PDP and Edo State’s political establishment.

Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his siblings and other relatives.

The family asked friends, relatives and well-wishers to keep them in their prayers and said details of his funeral arrangements would be announced later.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the family said.
