Former Power Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons Abducted By Gunmen In Ibadan

The family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement released by the family on Wednesday, the victims were kidnapped by armed men at about 7:30 a.m. while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.

The abducted children, identified as 12-year-old twins Peter and Paul, were reportedly travelling with their mother when the incident occurred.

The family disclosed that the matter was immediately reported to security agencies, which have since launched investigations and commenced efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.

Mrs. John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. The family said she recently retired after working with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian.

According to the statement, she had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children and was making arrangements to join her husband in the United States.

Family members expressed deep concern over the abduction but said they remained hopeful that security operatives would secure the safe return of the victims.

The statement noted that law enforcement agencies were actively working to rescue Mrs. John-Paul and her children while also pursuing those responsible for the crime.

The family appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could interfere with ongoing investigations and rescue operations.

They also urged anyone with useful information that could assist security agencies to report it through the appropriate channels.

While pledging full cooperation with investigators, the family said further updates would be provided as developments emerge.
