The Kebbi State Government has confirmed that suspected terrorists attacked Maga Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, abducting an undisclosed number of female students and killing a staff member during the assault.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, said details are still emerging as authorities work to determine the full extent of the attack. Deputy Governor Umar Tafida has led a government and security delegation to the school to assess the situation and coordinate emergency response efforts.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers invaded the school at night, shooting indiscriminately. A staff member was killed in the gunfire, while several others sustained injuries. The chaotic scene sent students scrambling for safety as the terrorists seized a number of girls and fled.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and intensified efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students. The state government has urged residents to remain calm as investigations and rescue operations continue.
Authorities are also engaging with affected families and arranging medical care for the wounded. The incident has renewed concerns about the vulnerability of schools in Northern Nigeria amid recurring terrorist attacks.
