Nigeria continues to rejoice and celebrate as Lauritta Onye gave yet another reason after winning a gold medal in the shot-put event in Paralympics in Rio, Brazil.

She broke her own world record of 7.72m on her first throw with the 7.83m mark. Her previous best was set at the 2015 IPC World Athletics Championships in Doha.

She hit 7.54m and 7.55m mark in her second and third attempt respectively.

She eventually clinched the gold medal after her fourth attempt saw a stupendous 8.40m mark.

This is the fifth gold medal for Team Nigeria in the competition while first in the athletics event.
