Manchester City boosted their Premier League title hopes with a 2-1 victory over leaders Arsenal, moving within three points of the top with a game in hand.
Arsenal remain top on 70 points from 33 matches, while City now have 67 from 32 games. A win in their next fixture would see Pep Guardiola’s side climb above the league leaders with five matches remaining.
City took the lead in the 16th minute through Rayan Cherki, who produced a brilliant solo effort to open the scoring at the Etihad Stadium. Arsenal responded almost immediately, as a hesitation from Gianluigi Donnarumma allowed Kai Havertz to capitalise and equalise.
After the break, City dominated possession and pushed Arsenal onto the back foot. Their pressure paid off in the 65th minute when Erling Haaland ended his goal drought with a composed finish to restore the lead.
City continued to threaten through Antoine Semenyo and Jeremy Doku, while Arsenal struggled to mount a sustained comeback in the closing stages.
The result marks another setback for Arsenal in their pursuit of a first league title since 2004, while City’s strong form puts them in a commanding position as the title race heads into its final stretch.
