Nigerian makeup artist and creative entrepreneur Tesglam has been formally presented with a Guinness World Records plaque and medal following the confirmation of her 146-hour continuous makeup application marathon in Lagos.

The record-setting attempt took place at Landmark, Lagos, where Tesglam applied makeup continuously for six days on more than 200 individuals. The marathon attracted widespread attention from creatives, beauty enthusiasts and supporters, both on-site and across digital platforms.

Reacting to the recognition, Tesglam described the achievement as a testament to discipline, faith and community support. “This record represents discipline, faith, and the power of community. What sustained me wasn’t just skill, but the people who showed up, prayed, checked in and believed. This belongs to all of us,” she said.

She acknowledged the physical and mental demands of the challenge, noting that moments of exhaustion were overcome by the encouragement she received. “Knowing that people believed in me kept me going. Every face I worked on reminded me why I started this journey,” she added.

During the marathon, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth paid a courtesy visit and later congratulated Tesglam following the official confirmation of the record. The commissioner said the achievement had not only brought pride to Lagos but also inspired young creatives to pursue excellence on a global stage.

Participants who took part in the marathon also shared their experiences. Ifeoma Adeyemi described watching Tesglam work for several days as deeply inspiring, praising her focus and dedication. Chinedu Okafor added that the event felt like a collective experience, marked by strong physical and online support from the community.

According to a press release, the Guinness World Records verification process lasted several weeks before the official plaque presentation, marking the completion of the validation stage. Tesglam said the moment was symbolic, describing the plaque as a reminder that persistence and community support can turn dreams into reality.

Tesglam, whose work spans fashion, editorial projects, commercial campaigns and creative direction, said her next focus would be on education, mentorship and community-driven beauty initiatives aimed at supporting the growth of Nigeria’s creative industry.

She added that she hopes to create platforms that enable young talents to thrive without borders.

The milestone has been widely celebrated as both a personal achievement and a moment of pride for Nigeria’s beauty and creative sector, highlighting the global potential of locally nurtured talent backed by consistency and community support.
