Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians that the nation’s security situation will improve significantly in the coming weeks, citing progress in ongoing military operations across the country.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after briefing President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Shaibu said his assessment of recent operations, especially following his visit to the Northeast, showed encouraging results.
When asked what Nigerians should expect in the near future, the Army Chief responded confidently: “They should look out for improved security across the country.”
He explained that his briefing to the President covered the outcomes of his operational tour of the Northeast theatre of operations, as well as updates on the broader national security situation.
“I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the Northeast region and to review other security situations across the country, which were satisfactory within this period,” Shaibu said.
According to him, the current security outlook remains “satisfactory,” reflecting stronger coordination among security agencies and sustained pressure on terrorist and criminal groups.
Although he did not disclose specific operational plans, his assurance follows intensified joint offensives against insurgents, bandits, and other violent elements in several parts of the country.
The statement comes just days after the Nigerian Air Force conducted successful airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Borno, Katsina, and Kwara states, reportedly neutralizing hundreds of militants.
