Senator Ned Nwoko has dismissed claims that he married actress Regina Daniels when she was 17 years old, calling the allegations “false, misleading, and entirely untrue.”
In a statement shared via his official X account on Wednesday, the businessman and lawmaker insisted that Regina was 21 at the time of their marriage, providing what he described as documentary evidence to support his claim.
“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old. I further asked if she had any document to support this, and she presented her INEC voter’s card, which clearly shows that she was born on October 10th, 1998,” Nwoko wrote.
He explained that he kept the card for record purposes and decided to make it public to counter what he called “deliberate misinformation.”
Nwoko also referenced a BBC interview granted by Regina’s mother shortly after the wedding, saying it corroborated his version of events.
According to him, their marriage took place six years ago, making Regina 27 years old today. “Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public. The facts are verifiable and indisputable,” he said.
The senator further urged the public to treat recent claims attributed to Regina “with caution and discernment,” alleging that her statements stem from “personal struggles” and “unverified issues surrounding her well-being.”
