Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, legal representatives for Sophia Momodu in her ongoing child custody case with Afrobeats star Davido concerning their daughter Imade, has accused the singer of exposing one of its partners to online harassment following a recent court hearing in Lagos.

The allegation follows proceedings in the custody matter currently before a Lagos court. After the hearing, Davido publicly discussed an exchange involving Sophia’s lawyer, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah. Shortly afterward, the singer announced he would withdraw the case, clarifying that he was not seeking sole custody but rather a structured co-parenting arrangement.

In posts shared on social media, Davido voiced frustration over what transpired in court. He stated that although he believed he had a strong legal position, the issue became personal when opposing counsel allegedly referenced his late son during arguments. “That’s a no no!” he wrote.

In a separate post, the singer mistakenly tagged gospel artiste Tosin Bee while sharing the name and social media handle of the lawyer, drawing significant online attention to her profile.

Responding in a formal statement, Punuka Attorneys condemned what it described as inflammatory public remarks and efforts to intimidate legal counsel outside the courtroom. The firm stressed that the matter remains before the court and should be resolved strictly through legal channels.

“Our attention has been drawn to all manner of inflammatory public statements… directed at our Partner, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah arising from her professional conduct in a custody matter presently pending before a court of competent jurisdiction in Lagos State,” the statement read.

The firm emphasized that the case is sub judice and will be decided based on evidence and applicable law, adding that it would not comment publicly on the substance of the proceedings.

However, the statement warned that subjecting lawyers to threats, intimidation, or harassment for carrying out their professional duties undermines the justice system. The firm called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the broader legal community to condemn what it characterized as an attack on professional legal practice.

The custody dispute remains ongoing, with both parties having expressed their positions publicly as the legal process continues.
