Spain Beat Argentina In Extra Time To Win 2026 FIFA World Cup

Spain were crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 in an extra-time thriller at New York New Jersey Stadium.

Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, finishing from a Nico Williams delivery to finally break the deadlock after a fiercely contested final.

Spain dominated possession and created the better chances throughout regulation time but were repeatedly denied by Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who produced a series of outstanding saves. The Spaniards also had a goal ruled out before the match went into extra time.

Argentina’s hopes suffered a major setback when midfielder Enzo Fernández was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in stoppage time, forcing Lionel Scaloni’s side to play the additional 30 minutes with 10 men.

Despite a late push from Argentina in search of an equaliser, Spain held firm to secure their second FIFA World Cup title and their first since lifting the trophy in 2010. The victory also ended Argentina’s reign as world champions and denied Lionel Messi a fourth World Cup triumph with La Albiceleste.
