Tinubu Backs Hamzat As Lagos APC Consensus Governorship Candidate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the state’s next governorship election.

The endorsement was disclosed in a statement shared by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, confirming that the decision was reached during a meeting with key party leaders in Lagos.

According to the statement, the meeting included members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by Tajudeen Olusi, alongside Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The move reflects a consolidation of support within the party’s leadership, positioning Hamzat as the preferred candidate ahead of the upcoming governorship race.

Widely regarded as a key figure in Lagos politics, Hamzat has maintained strong ties within the APC’s structure in the state, with his endorsement signalling a unified front as the party begins preparations for the election.
