Tinubu Reaffirms Resolve Against Terrorism, Hails Security Forces’ Sacrifices

President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will not be intimidated by terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other violent groups, insisting that their actions do not reflect the identity or values of the Nigerian people.

In a message shared on his verified X account on Monday, the President said the country would remain united in the face of security threats and continue efforts to defeat those seeking to destabilise the nation.

“Nigeria will not surrender to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define who we are as a people,” Tinubu stated.

“Their violence is not our identity. Their hatred does not represent Nigerians of any faith, creed, or community.”

The President stressed that combating insecurity should not be left solely to security agencies, describing the fight against terrorism as a collective responsibility that requires active citizen participation.

“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty,” he said.

“Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information. When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it.”

Tinubu also paid tribute to members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, commending their courage and commitment in protecting lives and property across the country.

“I commend all our patriotic front-line soldiers in the fight against terrorism in all forms,” he said.

“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety and dignity of our communities.”

The President acknowledged the sacrifices made by personnel operating in difficult environments, noting that their efforts enable millions of Nigerians to go about their daily lives in relative safety.

“This fight has not been easy. It has come with pain, pressure and sacrifice. But your courage has remained firm. Your service is acknowledged. Your sacrifice is honoured,” he added.

Tinubu also recognised the contributions of officers of the military, police, Department of State Services, Civil Defence and other intelligence and security organisations, as well as the families who support them.

He further honoured security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifices as vital to the nation’s survival and security.

“To our troops and all front-line patriots, thank you for your courage. Thank you for your vigilance. Thank you for your service,” the President said.

“May the Almighty protect you as you protect our country.”
