U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the historic peace deal between Israel and Hamas marks “the end of the age of terror,” describing it as a defining moment that ushers in “a new Middle East.”
Speaking before the Israeli Knesset on Monday, Trump hailed the ceasefire agreement as a monumental breakthrough that ends years of war and violence in the region.
“This is not only the end of a war, this is the end of the age of terror and death, and the beginning of the age of faith, hope, and God,” he said.
Trump called the agreement a symbol of lasting peace and praised the role of Arab and Muslim nations that contributed to the deal’s success.
“This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East,” he declared. “I convey my tremendous appreciation to all the nations of the Arab and Muslim world that came together to press Hamas to set the hostages free and send them home.”
The U.S. president described the peace accord as a global triumph, saying, “It’s an incredible victory for Israel and for the world to have all of these nations working together as partners in peace.”
He also commended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him “a man of exceptional courage and patriotism whose partnership made this momentous day possible.”
“He’s not the easiest man to deal with,” Trump added with a smile. “But that’s what makes him great.”
Reflecting on the human cost of the conflict, Trump noted the return of 20 surviving hostages and the recovery of the remains of 28 others.
“After two harrowing years in darkness and captivity, 20 courageous hostages are returning to the embrace of their families. Twenty-eight more precious loved ones are coming home at last to rest in this sacred soil,” he said.
Trump credited U.S. leadership and allied cooperation for “dismantling the forces of chaos and terror” across the region.
“All across the Middle East, the networks of terror that plagued this region for decades now stand weakened, isolated, and defeated,” he said. “Together we stopped the number one state sponsor of terror from obtaining the world’s most dangerous weapons.”
He also acknowledged U.S.-led airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, describing them as a decisive measure that “removed a dark cloud” over the region.
“We dropped 14 bombs on Iran’s key nuclear sites, and that stopped their ambitions cold,” Trump said.
The president declared that Israel’s military achievements had paved the way for sustainable peace.
“Israel, with our help, has won all that it can by force of arms. Now it’s time to turn those victories into the ultimate prize, peace and prosperity for the entire Middle East.”
Celebrating the ceasefire’s success, Trump said, “With this week’s ceasefire, we’ve achieved perhaps the most challenging breakthrough of them all. People are dancing in the streets, not only in Israel, but in countries that once would never have celebrated peace with Israel.”
Trump urged Palestinians to seize the moment to rebuild their future.
“This is their chance to turn forever from the path of terror and violence. Now is the time to build their people up, not tear Israel down,” he said.
He concluded by calling the peace accord the beginning of a “golden age” for the region.
“Generations from now, this will be remembered as the moment when everything began to change, and change very much for the better’.
